Tornado In Guatemala

29 Aug

The weather in Guatemala tends to vary a lot. Specially in these months is when it changes. There was a really strong rain on August 26 and the rain mixed with wind created a mini tornado. It was not as strong as you see in the movies. But you could see how people were left without a place to live. It was an awful situation going on, it was really dangerous. Thanks to god it was not a tragedy! I hope that the high amount of mountains help the country to avoid the chances of having tornadoes. I think that the government should do something to help the families that were left without a roof.

PEE for cabbages

21 Aug

You may find this disgusting but actually it’s true. You may think pee ends up in wastes. Actually it doe but in Finland some scientists used pee to experiment something with their crops.

They tested cabbages in 3 different ways. One of them was with pee. The other was with fertilizers and the last one was with normal soils. The three things were tested under the same coditions and during the same time. The result is really amazing! The cabbages with pee resulted to grow faster and better than the other cabbages. So pee is not useless, for cabbages it can be used as a “natural soil” even though it’s a bit disgusting.

Endangered species

15 Aug

Have you heard of global warming? Well there are hundreds of animals threatened because of it. One of them are polar bears.

Polar bears are animals that travel to find their mate. Sometimes they travel to search for food. Often they hunt seals or other animals that live in the ice.

Because of global warming, the ice of the Antartic is melting. That means that polar bears are almost left with no place to live. The ice is their habitat and they are loosing it because of something it’s not their fault.

I think we should make something to prevent the melting of glaciers. That way we could save some polar bwars and avoid the fact for them to become an endangered species.

LUNGLESS FROGS!

14 Aug

Would you believe if I say there’s a lungless frog? THIS IS TRUE!

This frog was found in Indonesia, in cold waters. The frog was analyzed and studied, studies said the frog breath through its skin.

The frog was accidentally found by a scientist making dissections. He was looking for animals in Borneo, Indonesia, and he found the lungless frog.

Later on, they discovered that the frog had low metabolic rate, which means it needs less oxygen than usual. Now that it’s discoered, scientists were trying to fubd out if the frog had all the organs that the usual frogs had.

In my opinion, this frogs would be awesome to dissect just to see how they are from the inside! It’s such a curious animal I’ve never imagined.

Jellyfish Invasion

5 Aug

It seems like aliens are attacking Japan. But no, some gigantic jelly fishes are invading Japan but now in a larger amount.

Before, few jellyfishes came to Japan through the sea. But now the amount of jellyfish grew. Nobody knows why they are invading Japan but surfers and people who studies the sea are feeling threatened by them.

Some fishers commented that the jelly fishes are breaking up their fishing nets. Some jellyfishes are caught but because of their weight, they brake up the nets and scare the fishers. The jelly fish are eating some species in the sea.
The jellyfishes can be really harmful, they are huge and heavy. They can weight up to 500 pounds, the same a lion weights.

Water Bottles Pollution

5 Aug

In the US, moat people prefer to drink water from a bottle than the one of the faucet. Why this happens? It’s because people think bottled water it’s better for them! They’re wrong! Both bottled water and water from the faucet are good for you.The US government makes sure the water from the faucet is purified.

So why you keep polluting? The plastic used to maje water bottles uses fossil fuels. With the amount of water bottles of the US for a year, you could make 1 million cars go on for a year. So stop pollutig the air, we are taking over our own planet. Let’s get some self-conscience and start helping our environment.
